In the Pit of Her Stomach

It was a sure thing.  After all the clients he signed on, and the numbers he brought in, there was no way management wouldn’t want him to join the company.  Even his manager, Jackie, who always acted like his presence was an inconvenience at best, hadn’t once complained about the work he had done.  Going into his review, the only thing working against him was a lunch that wasn’t sitting well, but at least it wasn’t nerves upsetting his stomach.
